Why This Page Exists
Because Topeny is built around the word “test,” we think it’s fair to explain exactly what that means in practice, and how we keep our test results separate from advertising and affiliate relationships.
Our Testing Process
For each sub-category, we define the specific conditions a Test Report is run under before testing begins. Examples: Torrenting (P2P) VPN is tested for P2P support, sustained download speed, and kill-switch reliability; Mobile Games are tested on mid-range hardware as well as flagships, not flagships alone; AI Coding Assistants are tested against real coding tasks of varying complexity, not cherry-picked demos; System Utilities & Optimization Software is tested for measurable before/after performance impact, not just marketing claims.
Where full hands-on testing isn’t possible — due to enterprise-only pricing, region locks, or similar constraints — the Test Report is labeled accordingly and relies on the most reliable secondary sources available: vendor documentation, independent benchmarks, and verified user reports.
Bulletin Standards
Bulletins are short-form updates on releases, price changes, security incidents, or notable industry news. We link back to primary sources such as official announcements and changelogs wherever possible and update or correct a Bulletin promptly if new information emerges.
Conflict of Interest Policy
Writers and testers must disclose any personal or financial interest in a product beyond Topeny’s standard affiliate relationships. Where a conflict exists, it is disclosed to readers or the assignment is reassigned.
Corrections
Found an error in a Test Report or Bulletin? Email admin@topeny.com with the URL and details. We verify and correct quickly, with material corrections noted at the bottom of the piece along with the correction date.
Independence from Commercial Teams
Advertising sales and affiliate partnerships are managed separately from the team producing Test Reports and Bulletins. Commercial partners have no input into test conditions, results, or verdicts.
